About the event

Owner/Skipper Gary Gregory reflects on his 35-year journey sailing and maintaining Valiant, the last wooden 12-meter designed and built in 1970 to compete for the America’s Cup. After acquiring Valiant in 1989, Gregory worked with legendary original designer Olin Stephens II to modify the hull and retrofit the boat for distance racing and pleasure sailing as well as round-the-buoy racing, competing on both sides of the Atlantic. Veteran of more than a dozen Marblehead to Halifax races as well as the winner of many prestigious classic yacht races throughout New England, Valiant has also provided many fond memories for family and friends who have spent time aboard over the years.
